First is an out a mile 1/2 and back, then it’s a 4 mile loop with steady gain to a view of Pikes Peak almost 45 miles away. There’s plenty of shade along the hike, being up in the foothills it’s cooler also. Other than a 1/2 mile across road to the campground and back, the rest of the hike’s trails do not allow mountain bikers. Mild to moderately used trails in the park.

The hike will take the Songbird and Chickadee to the campground and a bit past to a turnaround point and back for 3 miles. Then an Elkhorn, Oxen Draw, Eagle’s View, Raven’s Roost 4 mile loop. The main lot is the exit point for the loop and the other 2 lots down the road are exits for the 1.5 mile out and back. There’s over 1000 feet of gain to count for the other mile.
